Colombo is the business and commercial centre of Sri Lanka, Colombo was only a small seaport, which came into prominence in the 16th Century with the arrival of the Portuguese in 1505 and the development of it as a major Harbour took place during the British period. Colombo became the capital of Sri Lanka in 1815 after the Kandyan Kingdom was ceded to the British.

Visit the former British administrative centre and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area where there is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Kayman’s Gate with the Belfry at the original gate to enter the Fort, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhaal dating back to 1749, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple dating to 6th C.B.C., Davatagaha Mosque, Colombo Museum and the Natural History Museum are some of the sites to be visited.

Your adventure begins as you glide through a natural mangrove cave, setting the stage for the wonders to come. Your first stop is Cinnamon Island, where you can witness the fascinating cinnamon manufacturing process. As you continue your journey, you’ll see rural fishermen enhancing the lagoon’s charm with their traditional catamarans, surrounded by stunning wildlife. Breakfast at the Lodge

Check out and transfer to Talpe via Galle.

Upon arrival at Galle, proceed on a guided walking tour of Galle Fort.

The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch Fort which is a “World Heritage Site” in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the “Tarshish” of the Old Testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord.

Today, the 90-acre Galle Fort shows no evidence of the Portuguese founders. The Dutch incorporated the Portuguese northern wall in a great rampart in 1663. A second, taller wall was built inside of it. Between the two walls, a covered passage connected the central bastion with the Fort’s two half bastions overlooking the sea.

The Dutch also installed a sophisticated drainage system, complete with brick-lined underground sewers that were flushed twice a day by the high and low tides. The original gate to the fort was by the harbour. It is still there, marked by the British Coat-of-arms on the front and the Dutch V.O.C. (Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) with the Coat-of-arms with a rooster crest, on the inner side of the Fort.

Check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the hotel amenities.

Early this morning, you will be transferred to the Mirissa port with your packed breakfast.

Upon arrival, board our boat for the whale watching tour.

The chances of spotting whales during November – April are 98%. Please keep in mind that spotting wildlife is not guaranteed. Blue whales are most often seen. Return to the hotel.

This afternoon, check out and transfer to Udawalawa.

Upon arrival, proceed to the Elephant Transit Home.

Unforgettable Moment: Visit the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawa National Park, a rehabilitation centre for orphaned elephant calves, confident that you are supporting an ethical commitment towards enhancing their chances of survival in the wild. The Elephant Transit Home exists for the primary objective of rehabilitating orphaned elephant calves before releasing them.

The elephants are never chained, but are free to roam around and play as they wish. Human contact is kept to a minimum in order to maximise their chance of survival when they are returned to the wild. There is no touching, washing or posing alongside them for photos.

Post completion, check in to your luxury accommodation on the river banks of Rakwana River.

Early this morning, enjoy a safari at Udawalawa National Park.

Udawalawa National Park is home to 184 species of birds (33 of which are migratory), 94 kinds of plants, 21 fish, 12 amphibians, 33 reptiles, 43 mammals, and 135 species of butterflies, in addition to its amazing population of Asian elephants, Udawalawa is the third most visited national park and an important habitat for waterbirds and Sri Lankan elephants.

Spend the morning on leisure unwinding at the hotel.

Later in the afternoon, check out and transfer to Yala.

Later in the afternoon, depart for your jeep safari at Yala National Park.

Yala National Park is Sri Lanka’s most visited wildlife reserve. Yala covers an area of 1260 square kilometres. The park’s dry-zone landscape is strikingly beautiful and the park’s wildlife has its own distinctive charm, with huddles of colourful painted storks perched on the incongruously conjoined sight of elephants marching sedately through the bush while rabbits scamper through the undergrowth. Leopards, sloth bears and elephants are the “big 3” here although crocodiles, jackals and the many varieties of birds are also a huge draw to this park which is the largest national park in the country.

After your safari return to the hotel and sip on a sundowner.

Breakfast at the resort.

Upon arrival, lunch will be served at the hotel’s restaurant.

Lipton’s Seat is a popular vantage point, from where Thomas Lipton would sit with a cup of tea in hand and proudly look over his estate. Today, you can still have one of the best views from the lookout, and there is even a life-sized statue of Lipton on a bench to take pictures with! From here you will see one of the most breathtaking views, as the sun rises, the hills turn from a dark blue to vibrant green, the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour from lilac with a burst of pink and orange before finally turning blue.

Transfer to Kelliebedde for your tea factory experience.
